The Black Queens of Ghana could not advance to the finals of the WAFCON as Host nation Morocco beats the Ghanaians in a penalty shootout after a 90 minutes 1:1 draw.
Historically, Ghana held the edge over Morocco having defeated in 3:0 the previous WAFCON 2000 which the 4th edition of the tournament.
The Black Queens were tipped to overcome Morocco in penalties after winning their match with penalty shootout against Algeria. However, The odds were defied in favor of Morocco as Ghana missed two penalty kicks.
Morocco’s attacking prowess was evident in their tournament-high 10 goals scored in just four matches. Captain Ghizlane Chebbak and strike partner Ibtissam Jraïdi have been instrumental in their success. Morocco’s home advantage and passionate crowd support undoubtedly posed a significant challenge for the Black Queens
